Makes me want to go to a Ceilidh.
This brings back so many memories of dancing around the living room at my Granny’s house while the grown-ups sing, and drink Sherry and Drambuie. And my Grandpa with his accordian.
And there was always at least one dog in the house.
I have a big family, and my Granny and Grandpa have a small house, but we all crowded in, sat around on the floor, played Scottish music - Granny singing with her lovely soft voice, me and my cousins running riot, playing with the dog(s), everyone laughing, chatting, joking. It was the liveliest living room in all the land!
There would be like, close to 20 of us in the living room, in a small 3 bed terraced house in Musselburgh (near Edinburgh). All my aunties, uncles, grandparents, cousins, siblings and parents. We’d just laugh all night.
I mean, they still do that of course, but now I’m an adult (sort of), as are my siblings and cousins, and I don’t get up to Scotland to see them as often.
But. I love those memories.
I forgot about them recently, then my cousin put something on facebook that reminded me.
I’m a very lucky gurl ‘cause my family are the funniest and nicest family ever.
